The scientific research suggests that eating dark chocolate while pregnant may have health benefits for mummy and baby. Dark chocolate has contains a high concentration of antioxidants, which guard the body and help to repair regular cell damage and increase the immunity of the body. As per the studies these antioxidants helps to reduced cholesterol, lower blood pressure and protect from heart related disease. And also protects from cancer and stroke, it also decreased pregnancy complications, and help in delayed brain function which arise with the aging.

Most people are believe that chocolate is not good for pregnant women as it contains caffeine that inhibits the absorption of iron. But as per the studies it proves that dark chocolate on the other hand is actually beneficial for pregnant mother. A regular daily intake of dark chocolate protects pregnant mother from experiencing high blood pressure related problems.

Research has also shown that when pregnant women eat dark chocolate they also pass on the benefits to their babies. Researchers have found a connection between mummies who ate dark chocolate while they were pregnant and the happiness share of their babies. They actually claim that mother who ate chocolate gave birth to happier babies.

Dark chocolate contains chemical called theobromines that persuade vasodilation, stimulates the heart and is a diuretic. It also contains magnesium that helps in reducing hypertension. Magnesium is very essential for pregnant mother as it helps in the development of the fetal brain. Dark chocolate also contains Flavonoids it is rich anti-oxidant properties. This is also helpful in building immunity and contains anti-carcinogens. For expecting mother flavonoids help in preventing pre-eclampsia.

A new research shows that eating these dark sweet chocolate everyday just might reduce the possibility of a miscarriage. It is also good for those expecting mother who are struggling or have struggled with morning sickness during their first three months on the way. Dark chocolate help them a lot to fight with this morning sickness problem.

However, remember that, because this study is still new, you should always speak with your physician before changing your pregnancy diet.
